The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum wears its festive clothes and opens its doors in a Christmas mood for an event full of music. The event will take place at the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum in Myrtia, Heraklion, on Friday 13 December 2024, starting at 18.00 and with free admission for the public.
The event will start from the Museum's Permanent Exhibition, where students from the Heraklion Music School and the Chania Music School will play beloved classical music melodies at various points of the Exhibition. After this musical journey, students and audience will descend to the Museum's "Giorgos Anemogiannis" Conference Centre where they will be welcomed by students from Myrtia Primary School. There the students of the three schools will sing Christmas carols and exchange wishes in view of the holidays.
At the same time, on this day the Museum will start collecting heating stoves, toys and packaged food to be donated to children, single-parent families, elderly people and people with health problems or disabilities. This collection is done in collaboration with the A.T.A.H.T.O.I. group as part of their initiative "We all become one" and in a wider effort to highlight the social role of the Kazantzakis Museum.
The event is co-organized with the Region of Crete, the Music Schools of Heraklion and Chania and the support of the Parents' Association of Myrtia Primary School. The event is sponsored by the Heraklion-Lassithi Bus Company and the Chania-Rethymnon Bus Company.
