The University of the Mountains, a member of the Mountain Partnership - Forest and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations, continues its voluntary work in Crete and throughout Greece.
On Thursday 14 and Friday 15 November 2024, the entire team of volunteers will visit the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum in the village of Myrtia in the Municipality of Archanes-Asterousia, Heraklion.

During this two-day excursion, the planned activities will take place as follows:

1) Thursday 14 November: Parallel teaching of students and sowing of flax with students and teachers at Myrtia Primary School.

2) Friday 15 November:  Medical examinations by professors of Medicine from the University of Crete with their teams, to vulnerable groups of the local population, at The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum, in the afternoon of the same day, will be the Coffee House of the Mountains.
An open discussion with local residents, where issues concerning the people themselves, food, nature, water, self-sufficiency, family violence, local crops, animal husbandry, tourism, home economics, cottage industry, production and creation of plant and natural yarns for the sacred art of weaving in Crete will be discussed.
