Throughout the year, the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum traveled inside and outside Crete, physically and digitally, successfully organizing a number of anniversary events and activities to celebrate its 40 years of operation.
On Sunday, November 19, 2023, at the Cultural Conference Center of Heraklion, these events culminate with the concert of the Symphony Orchestra of Youth of Crete (S.O.N.K.) of the Municipality of Heraklion under the direction of Miltos Logiadis.
The Youth Symphony Orchestra of Crete has in the past accompanied the Museum's cultural activities two more times by participating in the Traveling Festivals: "England" and "Russia". Music is an expression of creation that reaches the soul of each of us by conveying messages and raising emotions that contribute to the formation of our thinking and character.
In this culminating anniversary event, 22 talented young musicians from Crete with their instruments, such as violin, viola, cello, double bass and harpsichord, with soloists Athena Vrettou and Evangelia Koutsodimou and Tassis Christogiannapoulos in song, will lead us from the Baroque and Antonio Vivaldi's 4 Seasons, to today and to Nikos Kazantzakis to remind us with the music of Manos Hatzidakis that Captain Michalis marked the path of the great Cretan writer on the universal literary scene.
This concert is dedicated to the memory of the great Giorgos Grammatikakis who left a few days ago to meet Nikos Kazantzakis in the neighborhoods of the angels. This dedication is a minimal tribute to the memory of the former President of the Museum Nikos Kazantzakis
Admission to the public is free. Tickets are available through Ticket Services.gr
The concert is under the auspices of the Ministry of Culture and Sports and co-organized by the Region of Crete and the Municipality of Heraklion. Transport sponsor: Aegean Airlines, Anniversary video sponsor: Karatzis SA, Major sponsor of the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum: Evangelos Marinakis.
