The Board of Directors of the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum, with a feeling of great sadness, met immediately after the announcement of the death of Emeritus Professor and former Rector of the University of Crete Giorgos Grammatikakis. The president and the members of the Council expressed their sorrow for the sudden death of one of the last modern spiritual people of our country with a huge contribution to the scientific and social development. Giorgos Grammatikakis graced the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum, having served as President of its Board of Directors in the period 2007-2011, decisively contributing to its radical renovation, development and extroversion, and he never stopped being close to the Museum, monitoring its actions and strengthening it By all means.
The Board of Directors, as a sign of mourning and a minimal tribute, unanimously decided:
1. To express his wholehearted condolences to his relatives and friends.
2. To attend his funeral.
3. To dedicate to his memory the closing anniversary event for the 40 years of the Museum that will take place on 19/11/2023 at the Cultural and Conference Center of Heraklion.
4. To publish this in the press.
