DESCRIPTION

The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum participates in the 1st Festival of the Walls organized by the Municipality of Heraklion with an original artistic performance that will take place in the exhibition site: "An Odyssey at the Jesus Gate" located at Jesus Gate of the Walls of Heraklion which dedicated to Nikos Kazantzakis and curated by Dimitris Kalokoiris.

It is a performance produced by The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum with a group of artists (actors, dancers and musicians) in order to creatively utilize the exhibition in a coexistence of speech, music and movement. Nikos Kazantzakis' words are incorporated into the dancers' bodies, converse with the music, and take full advantage of the entire exhibition site. Excerpts from the book “The Saviors of God. Spiritual Exercises” will be heard, alongside small excerpts from other iconic novels of the author highlighted by the exhibition, under the symbolic sunlight of the “Odyssey” in the dome of the entrance. The Arts and the exhibition, as well as the author, are involved in a conversation. Kazantzakis' form and work are not restricted to Jesus Gate; they are also a significant part of the walls of Heraklion due to his burial in Martinego Bastion.
