The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum has successfully completed the filming of "I am free", a new short documentary about the life and work of Nikos Kazantzakis.
The documentary is a production of EyeQ creative media directed by Nikos Pantermarakis, artistic editing by Sandra Odette Kypriotakis and scientific editing by The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum. This is a small film-introduction to the huge work and biography of Nikos Kazantzakis that illuminates his aesthetics, thoughts, symbols. The excellent archival material of the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum combines with the emblematic scenes filmed for the needs of the documentary. Scenes of simplicity, stillness, depth and symbolism, open to interpretation and thought. The language of the short documentary is Greek, while during the production special care was taken to preserve and ensure the universality of the great author and subtitles were produced in 10 different languages (Greek, English, French, German, Italian, Spanish, Russian, Chinese , Korean and Hebrew).
The official first presentation of the documentary will take place on Thursday, April 18, 2024 at 7:30 p.m. at the Fougaro Hall in Heraklion.
For the presentation of the documentary, the public will be invited to dive into the world of Nikos Kazantzakis, as the director saw it. A soundscape with quotes by Nikos Kazantzakis will be heard, while at the same time a small kinesiology performance will take place that gives an idea of the work. The screening of the documentary will follow. The event will conclude with a small treat with wine and a cold buffet.
The documentary was made in the context of the project "Nikos Kazantzakis in another way: Digital cultural routes inside and outside the museum of the same name" and was financed by the operational program EPANEK 2014-2020 with Nova as Contractor and Aegean Solutions as Subcontractor.
The documentary, after its first presentation, will now be screened at the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum, which, renewed and enriched with new digital media, will reopen its doors on April 20, 2024.
