The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum welcomes the anniversary year 2023 and celebrates its 40 years of uninterrupted operation by launching the action "Hidden diamonds in the Kazantzakis Museum" with the aim of highlighting the wealth of its Collections, the founder of the Museum, George Anemogiannis, but also the important role of donors of those who throughout time and in practice support the Museum.
Each month one of the items from the Collections will be exhibited in the Museum and will be the "exhibit of the month", while at the same time, it will be presented on the Museum's website with the aim of having a thematic digital exhibition entitled "Hidden Diamonds in the Museum" by the end of the year ». Thus, twelve different documents will be presented, and the history of their acquisition will be illuminated, as well as the history that connects them to the form and work of Nikos Kazantzakis.
In the course of the year, thematic guided tours will be organized as well as workshops and educational activities for children, adults, and families. At the same time, the action attempts to rekindle the Museum's relationship with visitors by encouraging interaction with them. Stay tuned to learn our news!
The first "hidden gem" and forerunner of the action could not be other than the manuscript of "Aniforos", the almost unknown work of the author that was published by "Dioptra" publications and presented at the Museum just a few months ago. The manuscript that has been preserved in the Museum since 2005 and only a few years ago was fully documented, is a central exhibit of the thematic periodic exhibition "The Ascent: The known-unknown work of Nikos Kazantzakis" which is already hosted in the Museum.
The first guided tour of the exhibition will be held on Sunday, January 22, 2023, by the curator of the exhibition, Ms. Paraskevi Vasiliadis. To participate in the tour, you must register at 2810741689 or at info@kazantzaki.gr.
