The Department of Educational Activities of the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum, since its establishment, designs and implements educational programmes for all classes of Primary and Secondary Education, for families, adults and people with disabilities. The aim of the Museum's educational programmes is to create space and time for new knowledge, focusing on the cultivation of critical thinking and the activation of students' creative abilities for a multi-sensory approach to its collections.

The Nikos Kazantzakis Museum, after months of digital transformation, is entering a new era, aiming to open its Collections to the public through the digitisation of a large part of the archival material and its educational use with applications specially designed for children and young people. The integration of new technologies into educational programmes marks the beginning of a new cycle of planning activities that will be attractive to visitors young and old. For this reason, the Museum presents the new Educational Portal of the Department of Educational Activities (education.kazantzaki.gr) where all the Museum's educational activities are posted, as well as interactive games and educational material to be used.

For the school year 2024 - 2025, two new educational programmes have been planned to take place within the Museum's Permanent Exhibition and three digital educational programmes that will be conducted live via the Museotek platform from the Permanent Exhibition to any school classroom in Greece or abroad.

On the occasion of the digital transformation of the Museum, the Department of Educational Activities has designed an educational programme entitled "Write to me always...". The program was designed to make use of the Letters of Nikos Kazantzakis Archive preserved in the Museum and to enhance the skills of writing production. It is addressed to school groups of the 3rd, 4th, 5th and 6th grade of primary school.

On the other hand, the educational programme 'History Lessons with Kazantzakis' is aimed at school groups in secondary school. The programme concerns the biography of the author while examining the historical-social context of the time and aims to create a podcast with which the children themselves will deliver "History Lessons with Nikos Kazantzakis".

Finally, the digital educational programmes conducted through the Museotek platform for school groups that do not have the opportunity to visit the Museum. In particular, the digital programme "Journey without borders... " for students of the 4th, 5th and 6th grade of primary school, which is about the travels of Nikos Kazantzakis, the "Look, Think, Created @ MNK" for students of all grades of high school in which they discover how to read a work of art from the Museum's Collection and the digital "Tour of the Kazantzakis Museum" which enables school groups of the 2nd and 3rd grades of high school to digitally visit the Museum's Permanent Exhibition through an interactive tour.
