On Thursday, July 6, 2023, the opening of the periodic exhibition entitled "Nikos Kazantzakis, 140 years of light" took place in Hydra, which will last until the end of August. The exhibition is a co-organization of the Historical Archives - Museum of Hydra, in whose premises it is hosted, the Nikos Kazantzakis Museum and the collection of personal items of Nikos and Eleni Kazantzakis that belong to Ms Niki Stavrou.
During the opening ceremony, the Director of the Kazantzakis Museum, Mrs Marilena Milathianaki, referred to the difficult effort to transport the objects from Crete, her impeccable cooperation with the Historical Archive - Hydra Museum, but also to the desire for future cooperation between the two Museums with the possibility of a transfer exhibits from the Hydra Museum in Crete. The inauguration of the exhibition was made by the Director of the Historical Archive Museum of Hydra, Mrs Dina Adamopoulou and the ceremony was also framed by the speeches of Ms Niki Stavrou, President of the Nikos Kazantzakis Estate, Mrs Katerina Zografistou, President of the Greece Branch of the International Society of Friends of N. Kazantzakis, and Prof. Chris Gus Kanios, President of the Modern Greek Studies Foundation. The opening was celebrated with the presence of the local authorities of Hydra, distinguished guests and a large number of visitors.
